Throughout the course of managing over 20 projects at once, the D&C group must manage several challenges: right of way impacts, utility coordination, funding requirements, federal regulations, public outreach, environmental requirements, and permitting. In addition to navigating these challenges successfully, there were also an average of 177 hand-offs for completed projects. Hand-offs come with their own potential for mistakes, delays through turnaround times, and miscommunications. In addition to streamlining the project process, D&C also sought to achieve consistency between different engineers. Producing a consistent output also helps with coordinating with other groups.
A resource was also needed to guide new engineers through the project delivery process without them getting into trouble with funding and permitting requirements.
